The Great Barn was originally built in 1580 and was moved to its present site in 1745 when the elegant Georgian house was built. This listed barn, with its original beams dating back to 1490, has a very impressive structure. Having lain redundant for 50 years, Anna & Jamie came up with the plan to use it for events – thus saving this very special building from dereliction and preserving it for generations to come. The restored Great Barn was the winner of the 2015 Chilterns Building Design Award and sits adjacent to the stunning temple, situated in the herbaceous garden, providing a truly romantic setting for your ceremony.

Now fully restored to the highest standards, The Great Barn, benefits from oak floors, under-floor heating, dancefloor, PA system, sophisticated lighting, luxury loos, and air conditioning. Interesting quirky features include a cloistered walkway, a garden room with an open log fire, a French fountain, a bridal suite for all the bride’s preparations, and a romantic temple overlooking the pond and these are what make The Great Barn at Micklefield, a genuinely unique venue.

The Great Barn is set on 350 acres and unlike most wedding venues, you will have exclusive use of this stunning venue. We have a civil license for up to 200 people in The Barn or outside in the gardens.
