Event Staging Hire: What Size Stage Do You Need?
A stage lifts your band, speakers or performers above the crowd so everyone can see and hear them, and it instantly makes an event feel more professional. The question is always the same: how big? Here’s how to work it out, and how to finish it so it looks great on the day.

Start with who’s on the stage
Speeches and presentations need far less space than a band. Think about how many people will be on stage at once, and what else is up there: instruments, a lectern, a DJ booth or a screen.
- Speeches and awards: room for a speaker, a lectern and someone presenting.
- DJs: room for the booth with space to move around it.
- Bands: ask the band what they need, then add a little extra.
Building it panel by panel
Our stage is made from 2m by 1m panels, which means we can build the size and shape you need. Two panels side by side make a 2m square; add more to go wider or deeper. Try it yourself in our stage designer.
Think about the room
Leave space in front for the audience to see, and around the stage for access, speakers and lighting. Panels are carried in, so it’s worth checking venue access too. We’ll agree access and setup times with your venue.
Finish the look
Draping across the front of the stage hides the legs for a clean finish, and a draped back wall makes a smart backdrop. Add sound and uplighting so every speech is heard and every performer is lit, or a statement backdrop for awards photos.
