LED Dancefloor Hire: How to Choose the Right Size and Setup for Your Event
An LED dancefloor is the moment guests walk in and say “wow”. But get the size or position wrong and it can sit half empty while everyone huddles at the bar. Here’s how to get it right, from guest numbers to venue checks, so your dancefloor is packed from the first song.
- Around a third to a half of your guests dance at any one time, so size for the busiest moment, not the whole guest list.
- Put the dancefloor somewhere central and visible, with the DJ right beside it.
- Check your venue’s access and floor with your supplier before the day.
- Pair it with a DJ and good lighting and it becomes the heart of the party.
Why an LED dancefloor changes the whole night
A dancefloor gives people permission to dance. It marks out the space, draws the eye and, when it lights up, it pulls people in. An LED floor also does a lot of work for your photos and videos: the glow lights faces from below and makes even a simple room feel like a party.
It suits almost any venue, from hotel ballrooms to golf club function rooms and marquees, and it works for weddings, milestone birthdays, proms and corporate parties alike.
What size dancefloor do you need?
You don’t need room for every guest. At most weddings and parties, around a third to a half of your guests are on the dancefloor at once. A common rule of thumb is about 4 to 5 square feet per person dancing.
The easiest way to get it right is our dancefloor size calculator: enter your guest numbers and it suggests a size. Our LED dancefloors are priced by guest numbers, so when you choose your guest count in the quote, the right size is matched for you.
- Too big looks empty and puts people off dancing.
- Too small and guests give up and drift away.
- If in doubt, size for the busiest moment of the night: the first dance or the last half hour.

Where to put it in the room
Central and visible wins every time. Put the dancefloor where people can see it from their tables, with the DJ right beside it. A floor tucked in a corner tends to stay quiet. Keep the bar close enough that people drift between the two, but not so close that the queue blocks the floor.

Venue checks before you book
Every venue is different, so it’s worth checking a few things early: access for bringing the floor in, the floor surface, and setup times. For a marquee, the dancefloor needs a firm, level base. We agree access and setup with your venue for you, so all you need to tell us is where you’re celebrating.
What to pair with your dancefloor
The floor is the stage; the rest sets the mood. A DJ who reads the room keeps it busy, uplighting and a mirror ball finish the atmosphere, and light-up letters next to the floor make a great photo spot. For barns and rustic venues, a wood-effect dancefloor is a classic alternative.
